Somewhere between Prescott and Chandler there’s a line of green dots on the map, and if you connect them you get a pretty good picture of how our flower moves through Arizona. Eight of those dots are Zen Leaf dispensaries — and every one of them stocks High West Farms.
The partnership, plainly
Zen Leaf is the retail arm of Verano, one of the larger multi-state operators in the country. We’re a greenhouse east of Tucson with a cultivation team you could fit in two church vans. On paper, that’s an odd couple. At the counter, it makes perfect sense: they need flower that shows up on time, tests clean, and sells through — and we need shelves in the corners of Arizona our own trucks would take all day to reach one dispensary at a time.
Today, HWF products land at eight Zen Leaf locations across the state: Prescott up north; Dunlap, Cave Creek, and Indian School in Phoenix; Tempe; Power & Pecos and McKellips in Mesa; and Chandler in the East Valley. That’s real geographic spread — a Prescott local and a Chandler commuter are pulling the same lot numbers off very different shelves.
What you’ll find there
The Zen Leaf buyers keep coming back to the same three lines, which tells you something about what sells:
Highway 14 — our 14g prepackaged mylars, the flagship. Half-ounce bags of whole flower in whatever the farm is harvesting right now.
Octave — the 3.5g eighths. Same strain library, smaller commitment, the everyday shelf staple.
Diamond Westy — the 1g prerolls that ship in 50-count cases and sell like snacks. If you’ve grabbed a single-gram HWF joint at a Zen Leaf register, this was it.
Strains rotate with the harvest — lately that’s meant Sour Diesel, Timewreck, Gas Pedal, and BC Hash moving through in volume — so the exact menu depends on the week. That’s by design. We’d rather send what’s fresh than force a strain list.
Deliveries in waves
Because there are eight stores, Zen Leaf drops don’t trickle — they land in waves. Our delivery runs regularly hit several locations in a day, and we’ve covered all eight in a single run. When that happens, the Live Drops page lights up with a stack of Zen Leaf cards all bearing the same date. That page is updated every time a delivery goes out, so if you want to know whether your Zen Leaf got fresh HWF this week, that’s the place to look before you drive.
Why it matters for a small farm
There’s a version of the craft-cannabis story where the small grower and the big retailer are natural enemies. We’ve not found that to be true. What we’ve found is that a farm our size gets to do one thing obsessively well — grow and finish flower at 4,500 feet in Dragoon — while a partner with statewide reach handles the part where that flower needs to be in front of customers from Yavapai County to the East Valley.
The result: you can walk into any of eight Zen Leaf counters, hundreds of miles apart, and buy flower that was hanging in the same dry room a few weeks earlier. For a two-church-van operation, that still feels a little unreasonable. We plan to keep it that way.
